Wednesday August 11th Staffs Knott 5
I am just contacting you to say what a great credit Gemma Phillips
is to your club. She turned up at our annual Staffs Knot 5 Miler on
Wednesday evening and took the race by storm. Her 28:31 shattered
the course record by almost 2 minutes and she charmed us all with
her modesty. I think she may have done us a favour as we put a cash
prize for the course record and it may well be a long time before
anyone beats that time. Unless of course Gemma comes back again. She
did say how much she enjoyed the traffic free course and we would
not mind paying out again to such a lovely lady.

Kendal Ac's Richard Belk
He won the Athens Marathon in October 1979, when it's really
hot. German called Duranbakker (or something like that!) and Albrect Moser, a Swiss mountain runner who won Zierra Zinal one year. Yanus Kouros held the 100km world record was 5th he thinks. Info from Maragaret Belk I think Ian Rooke has run Athens Marathon too

Wednesday 5th August Ulverston 10k A hot a muggy night still produced a course record by Andy Jones of Salford Harriers in 30mins 31secs on one of the fastest 10k courses. 175 starters. results now available on Rebecca Robinson back for the holidays ran well but only managed to finish second to Lancaster's Louise Gardner 36:10. Mike Cronshaw was first vet 55. Our numbers are growing at races with plenty of banter lots of club vests on display Steve Priestley will approve where was his? did anyone else think the pavements were slippy?
